The Department of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck is home to a number of research programs ranging from European Integration to International Security. In the field of International Security, the focus of research is on nuclear (non-)proliferation and arms control, missile defense, transnational terrorism, energy security, US foreign and security policy, and Russian foreign and security policy.

Gerhard MANGOTT,  Professor of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck, Scientific Adviser on Post-Soviet Affairs for the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip) in Vienna. Main Research Areas: Russia and Ukraine: domestic politics, foreign and security policies; strategic arms control; EU Energy Security with a special emphasis on the oil and gas sectors.

Martin Senn is associate professor of international relations at the Department of Political Science, University of Innsbruck. He studied Political Science and English/American studies at the universities of Innsbruck and Vienna. Martin Senn was  a visiting researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF/HSFK) and the Judith Reppy Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies (Cornell University), and a teaching fellow in international security at University College London (UCL).
